They had been directing Lefranc & Bourgeois Colart International for twenty years when in 2008, Olivier Dupuy and his wife decided to support young artists. They bought the Manor of Plessix-Madeuc in Corseul near Dinan, they restored it for two year to change it into a place for artistic creation.

In the course of this professional experience, Olivier Dupuy:

  • identified the needs of young artists :
    • to have a real place for creation;
    • to find support and help to broadcast their works;
    • to confront their audience;
  • noticed that companies suffered from the lack of initiative of their partners and thus wanted to bring creators and entrepreneurs closer.
  • realized how art can create bridges between people and allow social links emergence.

Olivier and Bérénice Dupuy decided to answer these expectations by opening artist residencies with the advice of:

  • many artist including: Lydie Arickx, François Boisrond, Gerardo Dicrola, Guy Ferrer, Gérard Garouste, Sarkis…
  • leading figures of art including : Henri Claude Cousseau (former director of the Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts (ENSBA) – National higher school of fine arts, Paris), Didier Larnac (director of the Ecole supérieure des beaux-arts (ESBA) –  Higher school of fine arts, Le Mans), Marcel Lehman Lefranc (collector), Philippe Piguet (art critic).

« Les Ateliers du Plessix-Madeuc », a not-for-profit association, were created in May 2009 to carry this project.
